I will still love you

Dove among a fleet of crows
Black rose among a field of lilies
Black sheep among a herd of white fleeced sheep
A walking dead man...
Yet you ignored the stench that reeks from my graveyard linen
I sought for comfort among the gloomy shade
Saw colour in its absence
Yet you looked beyond my invisible world
Over the invisible walls that surround me
And saw colour in what I was...a black angel
So though they see failure in whom you are
I will see someone victorious...one who won my heart
Though they see no hope in your words
I will see a light at the end of the tunnel
Though they treat you with resentment
I will show them a friend closer than a brother
Though they accuse you and shame you
I will be there to count one by one as they leave without casting a single stone
Though they cursed at you for walking in the path of the “un righteous”
I will be there to show them that every sinner is a potential saint
Though they won’t believe a single word I have typed here tonight
I will be there smiling knowing that someone believed in me
And saw a friend
Judged me not by name, colour or looks
Or the sweetness of the words I spoke
But for the true treasure that lay inside a black heart
A treasure so bright now that heart is as white as snow
That treasure you helped me see...
Through every deed and every word
Every day and every comment
You helped me see angels that cared to touch a cold heart
You helped me understand what love really is
That true love does exist
And I will still love you
No matter the odds
